Max The Companion Dog Is Placed!

Max was saved from a high kill shelter in North Carolina - where he and his "brother" (a fully trained service dog) were surrendered after their previous owner was admitted to a nursing home. The service dog rescue arrived and saved the service dog but Max was left behind scared and mourning the loss of his family alone. Max was the perfect candidate for a companion dog as he was fully trained as a companion.

Max has been adopted by a family in Waycross, GA. His new "dad" has a host of medical issues and is wheelchair bound. Because of Max's prior training he was the perfect candidate as Dad's new companion! Information was exchanged and Max was placed.

Max's adoption fees need to be sponsored. Adoption fees allow us to continue to pull dogs from high kill shelters, vet them and place them as companion dogs for those with medical needs. Adoption fees cover vetting, transporting, spay/neuter and any other fees incurred from the time we save the dog to the time he is placed in a forever home.

Finding these dogs in the shelter serves two purposes - we save a dog's life and we place the dog where a person needs a companion. Life doesn't get better than that - for either the dog or the recipient!

Please donate: http://darrowshope.chipin.com/max-companion-dog

Here is Max with his new dad!!

A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. ~Proverbs 12:10

~In Memory Of Trent Williams~

It is with a heavy heart that I write, on July 29, 2012 we awoke to hear the news that little Trent had been called home. Although we are heartbroken, we know that T-man is now whole and well again in the arms of Jesus!

John 14:1-3 - Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house there are many mansions.

Trent Williams was an inspiration to all that came in contact with him or read his story. We believe that Trent would want you to know that Jesus loves you and died for you. He knew where his salvation was to be found. He would want you to know the love of Jesus. And he would not want your father to waver because of his passing. We believe that when we meet Trent - he will have a wondrous mansion!

From Ethel Dill - maternal grandmother of Trent sent us the following message:

I APPRECIATE ALL OF THE GENEROUSITY AND MANY PRAYERS THAT HAVE POURED IN FROM ALL THE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES...I AM AT AWWW WITH ALL THE LOVE THAT PEOPLE HAVE FOR MY GRANDBABY TRENT !!! HE WAS A LITTLE BOY HERE ON EARTH TO EVIDENTLY TOUCH THE LIVES OF MANY PEOPLE AND HE CERTAINLY ACCOMPLISHED THAT...TRENTS SERVICES WERE THE MOST HEART WARMING AND MOST DIGNIFIED SERVICE THAT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED...TRENT WAS AN INSPIRATION TO ME IN MANY WAYS AND I WAS VERY HONORED TO HAVE HIM AS MY GRANDSON !!! I AM SATISFIED KNOWING THAT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DID LOVE HIM, WILL HELP TO CARRY ON HIS LEGACY AS WE CONTINUE ON WITH OUR EVERY DAY LIVES... ALL MY THANKS TO EVERYONE AND I KNOW TRENT WOULD BE APPRECATIVE TO EVERYONE AS WELL....OUR BABY BOY TRENT HAS LEFT THIS EARTH BUT NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN, HE WILL I AM SURE REMAIN IN THE HEARTS OF EVERYONE THAT HE TOUCHED... THANK YOU TAMMY FOR ALL OF YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT TO KEEP EVERYONE POSTED THROUGH HIS DARKEST TIME AND THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE IT SO MUCH MORE BEARABLE TO GIVE US STRENGTH FROM ALL THAT CARED !!! MAY GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU!!!

Please keep the family of Trent Alan Williams lifted up in prayer during this difficult time.

Saddened this morning as we watch the Sheryl Crowe story play out. She has a meningioma - because it is benign there is a HUGE downplay. When we got the benign diagnosis from Pastor Joe's surgeon we were relieved...for about 2 minutes. Pastor Joe's battle is REAL! He has a lot more symptoms than patients we know with malignant brain tumors. In our constant research we found a statement that his tumor is benign but lethal. We are saddened that the media is downplaying diagnosis's like his. Pastor Joe is here by the Grace of God! He battles every day - THE BATTLE IS REAL! May God continue to bless, strengthen and heal all of those that are on this journey - no matter what the tumor has been classified as. We hope that we can use this situation as a way to bring awareness to brain tumors...and honor to all of those who are battling...and those who have gone on before us.

May the Lord bless you and keep you today!

Heartworm Positive Dog Needs Treatment

Originally dubbed Taco at the shelter, Celebrating Pugs committed a pug mix from SC in February 2012. Through a chain of mishaps and mis-communication - we were informed that Rudy was, in actuality, a lab mix. We had already had Rudy vetted and prepared for transport the very next day.

At the 11th hour we were informed that there had been a mistake and that we needed to make a decision as to whether or not Rudy would still be transported. We were, however, also told that Rudy's time was up at the shelter and dogs would die the next day. The decision was ours. Committed the rescue and welfare of dogs who have no voice of their own, Celebrating Pugs remained committed to saving Rudy's life. Rudy is now here at our rescue - but heartworm positive.

Our rescue was promised that there was sponsorship monies collected for Rudy's heartworm treatment but they never arrived. Now we are faced with raising the funds for Rudy's heartworm treatment. Once Rudy is treated he has a forever home to go to.

Rudy really deserves this second chance at life. He was a dead dog walking when we got him. Now - he has a whole life to look forward to if he can just get this treatment. Please consider a donation to Rudy's cause today! He is so worth it! Every dollar counts. Please, won't you donate today?

~Always Lifting Someone Up~

On June 18, 1956, Dawson Trotman died saving a life. After spending the afternoon waterskiing, Dawson Trotman made his way back on to the motorboat. Although he was tired, before he settled into his seat, he asked one of the two girls on the boat if she could swim. Allene Beck shook her head and Trotman traded places with her so she would be in a safer place. Just minutes later the speeding boat would bounce on a wave and shoot both 50 year old Trotman and young Allene into the water. Trotman swam to Allen and held her head above water until the boat could circle back. Allene was saved. Trotman sank and drowned. As seen in Time Magazine, his obituary read, "Dawson Trotman, always lifting someone up."  He died doing something he was known for....lifting someone up....being there for others.

Have you ever stopped and wondered how you will be remembered by those surrounded by you? Have you ever paused at the thought of how you will give your account to the Lord when asked on judgement day? What is your legacy?

You see, Dawson Trotman was a well-known man. He was a man of God. He is the founder of the Navigators. The Navigators website reads, "The Navigators ministry began in the 1930s, when a young California lumberyard worker caught a vision. After seeing the benefits of basic discipleship principles in his own life, Dawson Trotman wanted to teach them to others, echoing the call of 2 Timothy 2:2: "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.""

In 2012, the ministry that one man started based on basic discipleship lives on. According to their website, "Today the Navigator staff family - 4,600 strong - includes 70 nationalities, 130 languages, and numerous heritages and life experiences. The Navigator family also includes those who work alongside and support our staff, whose hearts beat with the passion of our motto, "to know Christ and to make Him known.""

Dr. Billy Graham said: "I think Daws has personally touched more lives than anybody I have ever known."

Now that, my friend, is a legacy!

As Christians we are called to encourage one another in our walk. We are called to minister to one another, uplift one another, and love one another as Christ so loved us.

And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
1 Thessalonians 5:14

The rewards for loving one another and ministering to one another are great.

"In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
John 14:2

The punishment for not doing so is even greater.

He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be answered.
Proverbs 21:13

As the body of Christ we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are to go out into the world and minister to those in need - to show them the way, remembering that our words and actions may be the only Bible someone ever "reads." We are to see and love them through the eyes of Jesus.

One of  Pastor Joe's favorite bands is Casting Crowns. He owns all of their albums and knows the words to every song they have ever released on their albums. They released a song in 2003 titled "If We Are The Body." Below are the chorus lyrics to that song:

But if we are the body why aren't his arms reaching?
Why aren't his hands healing?
Why aren't his words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't his feet going?
Why is his love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way.

We are instructed in Ephesians 2:8-9 that we are saved through grace not works. While works will not save us, we need to realize that faith without works is dead. My favorite book of the Bible is James. It lays out a short and simple outline as to how we are too live our lives. James teaches us that we are called to serve other, not through our faith, but through our service by means of our faith. When we serve others we allow other people an opportunity to meet Jesus, as we are His hands and feet. James addresses this specifically in James 2:21-24

"God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."
Ephesians 2:8-9

"Don't you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. And so it happened just as the Scriptures say, "Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith. He was even called the friend of God. So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone."
James 2:21-24

Living our faith is not "our butt in the pew and a buck in the plate."  It is living faith in serving others. We can shout to the ends of the earth about our faith, we can memorize Bible verses, show up at church once a week but until we put ourselves into the role of servant we will never reach our full potential; we will miss out on blessings. The world is our mission field. Once we get serious about reaching out to others and serving the needs of others in the manner that we're called - our lives will be filled with abundant blessings. Be the Bible someone reads. Let others see the face of Jesus in your works.

Today is a gift - untie the ribbons - be blessed - and be a blessing.
